ABIDING IN JESUS: SUMMER & BEYOND
Learning to abide in Christ is often connected to us remembering and following the truth and love of our personal Savior and Lord. The world is masterful at distraction. But distractions often lead to distortions, and distortions have the very real potential to lead to deception. We certainly don’t want our families to follow this path, however, complacency isn’t a solution.
One of the Holy Spirit’s jobs is to bring to mind the words of Jesus- God’s Word. (John 14:26) If we want to help our families remember and lovingly keep in step with Jesus, we need to intentionally design times and ways to help them stay engaged in God’s Word throughout each day. This is our responsibility and privilege given by God.

Let us never forget that the enemy’s ultimate tactic is to provide false teachings that fool people into believing they’re drawing closer to God, when all the while they’re actually moving farther into the darkness.
The enemy of our souls deeply desires mankind to stay far away from the true and living God. To do this, he must remove the key of God’s grace freely provided by Jesus on the cross and His victorious resurrection just three days later!
Counterfeit Keys
One of the most insidious substitutes for God’s amazing grace is actually false faith. After all, Scripture is clear. We are saved by grace… through faith. Ephesians 2:8-9. We must BELIEVE that what Jesus did. Romans 10:9. We are called and commanded to come to Jesus by grace by placing our faith in His full, free, and finished work on the cross.

Over the years it’s truly been a blessing working with students of all ages. One of the many benefits is having many wonderful class discussions. Sometimes those discussions lead to simple and helpful sayings that can then be used as beneficial navigation tools. Over the years, some of these little phrases have helped keep things simple, clearing through some of the clutter that we call today’s Christianity.

Calvinism says that man does not have the power or ability to reject the Gospel of God. The T in T.U.L.I.P. stands for total inability. The “I” stands for irresistible grace.
Calvinism teaches only those to whom God gives irresistible grace will be saved. The thought here is that there are people in this world that obviously have rejected the Gospel. Calvinism sees God’s sovereignty in such a way that man cannot resist God’s will. So the assumption here is if man can say no to the Gospel, he must be more powerful than God. (Note: To assume that man is more powerful than God is ridiculous. That is something every believer agrees with.)
This, of course, is simply an assumption…

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 As parents and teachers, we have so many balls in the air at any given time, losing track of what’s most important can happen quickly. With all the business of our days, it’s…

An atheistic evolutionist would have us believe there is nothing more than matter, yet if matter is all there is, then how would an immaterial concept such as “THANKS” ever originate? “Thanks” has no color, no shape, no texture, and no taste. A rock, for example, is matter in a solid form, yet it cares…

Question: The Bible is clear that those who call on the name of Jesus are saved. I struggle with this because my Aunt is a practicing Catholic and a close friend of mine is Mormon. Does this mean they are saved? Answer: It’s always important to go beyond the face value of someone’s claims. The spirit of…

Question: Is it wrong to pray and ask God’s favor? Somebody I know has a job interview and there are several people interviewing for this job. I told the person to pray for the Lord to lead and guide and to give you favor. Well, this lady that I know of but don’t know, is always posting…

Proverbs 14:25 – “A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.” God’s Word has a lot to say about lies; not the least of which is how He deals with them and where those who spread them are destined to spend eternity (Revelation 21:8). I don’t believe it’s necessary to delve into why God is so harsh in…
