Did ALL Humans Really Come From Adam and Eve?

Question from an evolutionist…

“How could Christians ever believe that all humans came from Adam and Eve (For Eve: Adam’s rib…I guess) and that they lived to be 900+ years old, and that incest must have been involved to continue the human race?”

Answer:

Understandably, the Genesis account of creation is much different than the story of evolution, however evolution has so many scientific issues, it’s mind blowing. Also, please keep in mind that the biblical creation account openly claims to be a miraculous act of the all-knowing and all-powerful Creator God, yet the story of evolution, falsely hiding behind “science”, goes against every law pertaining to real science.

Two Examples:

1. The Law of Biogenesis says life can only come from life, yet, according to evolution’s history, life came from nothing. This is a scientific impossibility and no slight of hand can hide that fact.

2. The Law of Information says information always comes from a greater amount of information, yet according to evolution, information would’ve had to have been constantly added to every biological system across the face of the planet.

And we haven’t even talked about all the issues evolution faces regarding irreducible complexity. I would sincerely love to hear any evolutionist in any scientific field honestly address these foundational scientific issues.

Specific to the points in your question:

Incest from the beginning:

Biblically speaking, man was created genetically perfect. Today, the main reason for not marrying close relatives is because of similar mutations in DNA. Even early on, the Bible is clear that Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4) so most likely they didn’t intermarry close relatives for too long. And later in history, as our genetic mutations increased, God gave a clear command not to engage in any incest relationships- Leviticus 18:6-18.

Mankind living extremely long periods of time: Scientists know we “wear out”, and although we can somewhat explain the process, no one truly understands why it occurs. Biblically speaking, man was created perfect and it would be more than reasonable that a perfect genetic code would be passed on (at least for quite a while). Also, the environment would’ve been extremely healthier in every way, so much more than we see today, This would all aid in mankind’s longevity. Keep in mind, just because we don’t see something today, doesn’t make it necessarily unfathomable. Over time, after sin entered the universe and the law of entropy passed into the entire physical universe, time was no longer a passive participant, but became a terrible and active player in the role of mankind and his physical demise.

Lastly, Eve being created from a rib. Frankly, an all-powerful God creating woman from man’s side makes so much more sense than all of mankind basically coming from a mitochondrial “eve” ancestor, a humanoid that would’ve had to have “miraculously” been endowed with trillions of bits of new genetic information, all working together perfectly, all thanks to random chance, tons of time, and lots of mutations, which incidentally, cannot add new information. Evolution’s story of man’s ancestry is not only implausible, it it statistically impossible.

According to Sir Fred Hoyle, the odds of even getting the genetic enzymes necessary for life through random processes is 1 in 10 to the 40,000th power.

“No matter how large the environment one considers, life cannot have had a random beginning . . . there are about two thousand enzymes, and the chance of obtaining them all in a random trial is only one part in (1020)2000 = 10 40,000, an outrageously small probability that could not be faced even if the whole universe consisted of organic soup.” Sir Fred Hoyle and Chandra Wickramasinghe, Evolution from Space (London: Dent, 1981), p. 148, 24.
God could have created Eve any way He saw fit, yet He chose a rib. Our thought really shouldn’t be, “How crazy!”, rather it should be, “Why a rib anyway?” Other than the obvious “bone of my bone” answer, there’s also a great clue, in my opinion, to God’s intent for marriage right from the beginning. He chose to take a bone from Adam’s side, perhaps as a reminder that every husband is to keep his wife at his side, to love and cherish her, to care for her in the most personal and selflessly protective manner, just as we would hold something or someone precious at our side. It would imply being vulnerable and open to that person, honest and approachable. And just as every husband should keep his wife at his side, so it is with Jesus to humanity.
Jesus always designed mankind to be close to Him, yet mankind rebelled, desiring their own way instead of God’s. Of course, any observant person can see how wonderful that’s gone for us. Just turn on the news for ten minutes. God historically sent His Son to earth to die for mankind’s sins so we could once again be brought to His side. And even on the cross, after Jesus Christ gave up His life, we have a vivid reminder of His desire as the Roman guard pierced His side and blood and water flowed down. Jesus poured everything out so we could have the only way to be forgiven from our sin against Him. What love!God needs nothing and most certainly doesn’t need us. Unfortunately, we’re under the awful delusion that we don’t need Him. How arrogant and foolish! We’re like children under some prideful notion that we actually don’t need the care of others. We will never attain true independence. Our bodies alone will always be dependent upon air, food, and water. Yet somehow we actually believe we can attain eternal independence from the very God who we were created to be with. How tragic. Sadly, many will have to spend an eternity thinking about their choice to reject Him.

“For the invisible things of [God] from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” Romans 1:20-25

Jesus said to the people, “Come unto Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
